The Outdoor Education program complements the academic and co-curricular life of the School, designed to promote enjoyment of and respect for the Australian outdoors, sustainability, social and personal development.

Our core Outdoor Education program provides all students with the opportunity to develop both skills and knowledge for responsible interaction with their environment.

The Junior School Camping program includes students visiting and/or staying in places such as Sovereign Hill in Ballarat, Kangaroo Island, the Murray Lands, the Adelaide Hills and the Mid North of South Australia.

The base for the Outdoor Education program in the Middle School is Old Watulunga, a 17 hectare property on the Finniss River, just over an hour's drive south of Adelaide. Students in Years 7, 8 and 10 participate in age-appropriate graded camps based at Old Watulunga and develop skills in kayaking, sailing, bushwalking, rock climbing, and orienteering. Year 9 students undertake a camp on Yorke Peninsula. Activities include coastal exploration, bushwalking and aquatic pursuits.

Senior School students can study Outdoor Education as a SACE Stage 1 and Stage 2 subject. These subjects provide the opportunity for senior students to continue engagement with the outdoors, building on their skills and knowledge developed in the Middle School. Our program includes a range of activities including surfing, rock-climbing, white water rafting, kayaking, bushwalking and snorkelling. Some of the places we visit include Mount Arapiles Victoria, Kangaroo Island, Flinders Ranges, Australian Alps and Beachport. This is a rigorous program focussed on developing extensive skills, knowledge, positive impacts on well-being and a life-long connection with the outdoors that ensures environmentally responsible citizens.
